Day
two was opened with an address by the Minister
of Research, Science and Technology, Hon. Pete Hodgson. Following
the Minister's introduction the rest of the day was taken up
by conference speakers.

Day
one of the conference saw workshop sessions taking place throughout
the day. Following the workshops delegates enjoyed dinner before
discussing the future of bioinformatics in New Zealand.

James Ostell takes delegates on a detailed tour of the many resources
availble from NCBI.

Perl fiend Damian Conway explaining the ins and outs of regular
expressions.

Mark Schreiber passing on his in-depth knowledge of the BioJava
toolkit.

The conference dinner was enjoyed by all.
